Nic & Jacie - Big Bend Elopement

↟ Terlingua, Texas - Wedding - Big Bend National Park

How did you two meet?: We met at a rather young age. We were in middle school and met at a Wednesday night youth group at the church we both went to. We spent the next few years seeing each other randomly at church events and meeting up with friends for movies and other things, and eventually started dating in high school.

How did you/they propose?: We were on a vacation with Jacie’s parents and sister in Colorado. We went on a hike in search of this waterfall a local told us about. After getting lost multiple times, trying to navigate the different pathways up the mountain, we finally reached an area overlooking the water just as the sun started to set. I knelt down in a spot barely big enough for us to both stand and had to pull Jacie back to me because she was trying to walk away to get a better look before we had to head back down the mountain. It was well past dark when we finally started our way back down. We raced down the trails as fast as we could singing songs and laughing out of excitement...and to keep away the animals since we were told to look out for them. We finally made it back to the car and headed back to her family to celebrate. It was such a special day that we will always remember.

What is love to you?: Love is being their for one another. Any time, any place. Love is fully devoting yourself to one another. Love is compromise. Love is doing things you don’t want to do just because you want to spend time together. Love is also sitting in separate rooms watching different tv shows. It’s ordering from two different restaurants. Love is about space and the lack there of. Love is difficult. Love is beautiful. Love is getting home after a long day of work and immediately cleaning the house even though you are exhausted. Love is a lazy Sunday laying in bed and eating candy for dinner. Love is a lot of things and it’s always changing. Love is going with the flow. Love is having a sleepover every night. Love is growth. Love is love and the more you try to figure it out the more you learn just how complex and exciting and infinite it is. Love is being able to spend everyday with each other.
